YCBA is trialling this new competition with heats at Keighley and Sheffield Bridge Clubs.   The Keighley heat will take place on Saturday 2nd November and the one at Sheffield the following Saturday, 9th November.

• These trial events with be free of charge 
• They will be single session events but with a break for coffee, tea and biscuits.
• The EBU handicapping method is to be used , that is to say

The handicap for each pair is their average of the two players’ NGS grades.  The NGS grades are the grades before the event.  The handicap is relative to 50%, so can be positive or negative.
The handicapped score is calculated by subtracting the handicap from the score from the combined results.
Handicapped-Score = Score – ((NGS_1 + NGS_2)/2 – 50

The following applies to the Sheffield heat.

Starting time 1.00  pm, playing about 24 boards.
