Yorkshire League Teams of 8
Hands & XIMPS Analysis
2024-25 Season
Yorkshire League Teams of 8 Hands
The top four divisions of the Yorkshire League Teams of 8 play the same boards so that comparison can be made between the top Yorkshire players. A Cross IMPS analysis of the results is then produced to enable the selection committees to choose partnerships to represent Yorkshire at the various Inter-County and National events.
The scores achieved by players in divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 playing county-wide boards will be analysed using cross-imp and Butler scoring. The maths of the two scoring methods differs, but the cross-imp method is considered to be marginally fairer, though the outcome is usually very similar.
The results of the cross-imp and Butler analysis together with their hands will be about 5-10 days after the match day in question
Please can the match secretaries or the captains of teams in the top four divisions send their scoresheets to the applicable analyst as follows:
Division 1: Tom Gisborne, tom@kmgisborne.plus.com
Division 2: Robin Jepson, robin.jepson@ntlworld.com
Division 3: James Carpenter, myriad628@gmail.com
Division 4: Allan Clarke, ajjclarke@aol.com
The scores can be sent either as a local spreadsheet or a scanned copy of a paper scoresheet. Please send the scores, if possible, on the evening of the match or the day after, to mitigate any delay in producing the results.
If for any reason your match is not played on the designated match day, please do not play the county-wide boards but use another set instead. The competition rules allow matches to be played online rather than face to face, by agreement between the teams, but for technical reasons we will not be able to include matches played online in the cross-imp analysis.
If you have any queries at all, please contact Robin Jepson (League Secretary)
