The Waddington Shield
Open to all members* of the YCBA

This is Yorkshire's county teams-of-four championship and is green-pointed. Teams may have up to six players, the fifth and sixth of whom may be added at any time up to the quarter-finals provided they are registered with the Tournament Secretary before they play.
* Yorkshire must be the county of primary allegiance for all players in this competition. The winners will be invited to represent Yorkshire in the Pachabo Cup (EBU Inter-County Teams-of-Four Championship)
YCBA will pay the entry fee and contribute to other expenses (currently £120 per team)

The competition will be knockout throughout. Matches prior to the Final shall be decided over 32 boards and the Final over 48 boards. Scoring shall be by International Match Points. In the event of a tie, a number of boards equal to one eighth of the original number of boards scheduled for the match shall be played, and if necessary, this process shall be repeated until the tie is broken

Teams which lose their first match have free entry to the Yorkshire Trophy which is the plate competition, where they may be joined by teams which have entered directly. (It is assumed that qualifying teams will wish to play unless they indicate otherwise.) You may enter the Yorkshire Trophy directly for £12 per team, but all players must be below the rank of National Master and must not have played in the Waddington Shield in the same season. If you wish to do this, the closing date is 1st January.
